Henry James "Hank" Reidelberger Jr. passed away in Gainesville, Florida on February 18, 2022 after prolonged struggles with his health. Hank was a big guy with a big personality, a big heart, and the ability to engage anyone with his intelligence and wit. Hank leaves behind his long-time girlfriend, Georgia Guin, sister and nephew Anne Stutzman and Samuel Henry Stutzman of Northridge, California, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill EuDaly of Sandy Springs, Georgia, niece Alyse EuDaly of Fargo, North Dakota, cousins from across the country, and many, many friends.
Hank was born at the old Florida East Coast Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida on April 5, 1948. He was the devoted son of Henry James Reidelberger Sr. and Eleanor McCarthy Reidelberger, long time teachers at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Hank graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1966 where he enjoyed playing four years of football. After attending St. Johns River Community College in Palatka for one year, Hank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam earning a Purple Heart, then was stationed at Quantico, Virginia.
Following his time in the Marines Hank earned his degree in journalism from the University of Florida. However, when his career path led him back to the University of Florida it was to work in the Disability Resources Office as a Support Service Coordinator and Sign Language Interpreter. Hank held a Comprehensive Skills Certificate (CSC) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. While working at the university Hank obtained his master's degree, then left to work at the Florida State Prison as a Mental Health Counselor. Upon retirement Hank continued to interpret and counsel including providing volunteer services to other veterans.
Hank loved motorcycles. He loved riding them, watching them race, working on them, but especially talking about them with his good motorcycle buddies. Hank even participated in motocross racing in his younger days. Ironically Hank's memorial service falls right in the middle of Daytona Bike Week, so we ask that his motorcycle friends enjoy this Bike Week or remember fun times at previous Bike Weeks in Hank's honor.
A funeral service for Hank will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in the Chapel of the Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, Florida, 32084. with a gathering at 10:00 am and the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Operation Catnip (https://ocgainesville.org) in honor of Hank's special affinity for feral cats or to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org).

We have many, many fond memories of Hank. As one of the motorcycle gang from Gainesville, we spent many days together at the racetrack and at home doing lots of bench racing. Hank was always kind and always had a "few" good stories to tell. His humor brought many a chuckle to our mutual friends and to me. Miss you, big guy. See you in the motorcycle hereafter.

I always enjoyed our New Year's gathering conversations and the times Hank would stop enroute by Kate's and we could say hello again. A kind gentle man who liked cats, motorcycles and Georgia. May it be an eternal ride with a little fun along the way guided by legions of grateful cats.

I received my last text from Hank on valentines day.I knew his parents and know Georgia. We meet in the Deaf world and were especially connected as veterans. Its because of Hank that I received all my benefits.Hank had a unique sense of humor .He appeared tough but inside he had a heart of gold .Hank and Georgia have assisted me throughout the years .Being veterans and part of the Deaf Community is a bond that is never broken.I will miss our lunches, texts and emails .I still have a gift from his parents .He will forever live in our broken hearts.Miss and love you as you never judged me but your a true friend which is hard to find in the world. You left your footprints.
