Henry G. Winters

Henry G. Winters, age 82 of Wilmington passed away at his home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Henry was born in Bergen County, NJ on September 2, 1940 to Henry G. Winters, Sr. and Alice Zeppelin Winters.
Henry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Iris Lorraine Winters; children David Winters (Tammy), Ian Daniel Winters (Dewi Caroline), Krysta Winters Nugent (Kevin), and Richard Winters (Petra); and three grandchildren Louis, Steven, and Caleb.
Remembered is his son, LTJG Bruce Winters, US Navy who passed away in 1993.
He is also survived by multiple in-laws and nieces and nephews who live throughout the United States. Family are from Kentucky, New York, Indiana, Japan, and California, as well as Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina.
Henry was a member of First Baptist Church in Wilmington and was active in his Sunday School Class. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving from June 26, 1961 through May 8, 1964. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Defense where he served as a Defense Analyst for 42 years and lived a rich life while residing in New Jersey, England, Germany, Maryland, and North Carolina. Henry was very active in his community, serving as an election judge, and as a member of the American Honor Guard of North Carolina, the Echo Farms Resident Association, the local Porsche club, and was very active in the Senior Soft Ball League. He also supported his wife who serves as an active Gold Star Mother.
Visitation will be Friday, May 12, 2023 starting at 5 pm at the First Baptist Church, Fifth and Market Streets, Wilmington N.C. His memorial service will begin at 7 pm led by Rev. Barrett Owen and Rev. Jim Everette.
In lieu of flowers consider memorial gifts to First Baptist Church or the Harrelson Center.
