Herbert F Ilker

Herbert F. Ilker, a devoted family man and longtime Wappingers resident, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on November 24, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, Herb was the son of the late Fredrick "Frank" Ilker and Hilda Jeske. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roselyn Ilker, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, his brother Richard Ilker, and his parents. Herb and Roselyn were married on May 14, 1960, building a life grounded in love, faith, and family. Herb proudly served in the National Guard and went on to build a successful career with IBM, where he began in 1964 and retired in 1992. Outside of his professional life, Herb was an avid golfer who in 1991 finally got his hole in one, and also found great joy in the outdoors. He had a passion for gardening and wine making, and was always active, engaged, and hands-on with his hobbies. A faithful and dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Herb lived a life of quiet strength and enduring faith. He is survived by his loving sons, Kurt and Scott, and his cherished grandchildren: Amber-Lynn, Mateus, Veronica, and Lucas.Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, followed by burial at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
