Herbert Lee Jordan Jr., of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1951, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Herbert Jordan, Sr. and Nettie (Stephens) Jordan.
He graduated from Hickman High School and attended Columbia College. He served his country in the United States Army shortly after high school. When he returned from the Army, he attended classes at Columbia College. He was in nursing at Harry S Veterans Hospital, was a co-owner of a plumbing business for some time and also worked in housekeeping at Boone Retirement and Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital.
Herbert was a happy fellow who loved to tell jokes and stories, write stories and laugh a lot. He also enjoyed all kinds of music, played dominoes and loved spending time with family and friends.
Herbert is survived by his daughter Petra Jordan; step-son Mike Black; siblings: brothers: Bruce Stephens of Columbia, Alan Jordan (Joyce) of Lee's Summit, Maurice Jordan, Marlon, Kevin Jordan, Keon Jordan, all of Columbia; sisters: Peyton Jordan, Karen Jordan-Ware, Arnita Jordan, all of Columbia; sister in law Debra Jordan; grandchildren: Braeden Jordan, Andre Jordan, Jordan Scott, Pe la Powell; great grandchild Londyn Jordan; and a host of other nieces, nephews and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Nettie (Stephens) Jordan Sr.; 2 sisters JoAnn Jordan, Lauren Jordan; 2 brothers Robert Jordan, Darrell Jordan; significant other Lorraine Harmon; brother-in-law Juliane Ware Sr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 301 Smiley Lane, Columbia, Missouri. An inurnment of ashes will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri. A repast luncheon will be held at 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church after the services at Jacksonville.
