Herbert Cortez Wright, JR, 69, of Albert Lea, MN, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Nursing Society on February 9, 2024.
Herbert was born November 20, 1954, in Belleville, IL to Herbert and Geneva Wright. Herbert came from a family of seven sisters and four brothers. Family was very important to him, and he will always be remembered and loved by his family.
Herbert was a wonderful, joyful, loving, honest, and hard-working person. He was a friend to everyone he met and would do anything for the people he loved. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Albert Lea, MN where he would help out by ushering. He was also a member of the Clubhouse, where he enjoyed going to activities and events with his friends.
Herbert enjoyed cooking, watching WWE on TV and traveling to go watch movies and going out to eat with his best friend, Mitchell. He enjoyed sitting out on his patio with his friends listening to music and having his cocktails.
Herbert would enjoy telling stories about his past and how he knew his fashion and how he looked so sharp and dashing with all his bling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Geneva Wright, sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his best friend, Mitchell Lang; a special person, he called "Mom", Violet Lang; brothers, sisters, many nephews, nieces and several friends that he called family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea, MN; Pastor John Mitchem will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Myrtle, MN.
