Howard Bailey Obituary
Born January 3, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to Howard and Norma Schroy Bailey, Pete was a life-long resident of Centerville. He was a 1959 graduate of Centerville High School. Pete also graduated from the Police Academy in 1965. He was a member of the Richmond Police Department for 20 years. After retiring from the police department, Pete was also the caretaker of Crown Hill Cemetery for 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerville, and the FOP Lodge. Pete enjoyed building homes, and rebuilding cars and boats.
Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn Crocker Bailey, whom he was married to for 62 years; daughters, Becky (Dave) Jones and Kristi (Eric) Webster; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy Rice) Keller, Craig (Lisa) Webster, Sara (Adrian) Shumate, and Molly Jones; great grandchildren, Emma Keller, Ray Keller, Kora Rice, Alaina Webster, Cailene Webster, and Lily Shumate; Penny Schenck and Kenny (Karen) Shelton, whom he considered his sister and brother; many friends; and all the people Pete considered family throughout the years you know who you are.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kaylei Jones; and great grandson Levi Alan Keller.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful, caring people at Ambassador Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Crown Hill Cemetery, 407 Short Street, Centerville, Indiana 47330, First Baptist Church of Centerville, 109 Mattie Harris Road, Centerville, Indiana, 47330, or Centerville Police Department, 5247 US 40, Centerville, Indiana 47330.
Visitation for Howard Alan "Pete" Bailey will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville, Indiana with Pastor James Girdley officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

So very sorry. Pete always reminded me of my dad. My kids thought of Pete as a grandpa. He is already missed.
