Howard P. Hamme, age 85, of Erie, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at UPMC Hamot Hospital.
He was born in Erie, February 15, 1939, son of the late Wilbur and Lucille Straub Hamme. Howard was a graduate of McDowell High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Gannon University.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Howard joined the family business in 1988 running Froess Piano and Organ, which he dedicated himself to for 50 years. Music was Howard’s life’s work and hobby. Having a keen ear, he tuned pianos and shared his passion as a musical instrument instructor. He had a special love ofJazz.
In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his daughter, Krista R. Placidi.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cathy Froess Hamme, their daughters Beth R. Bolton (Martin) and Sarah Dauria (Joe), all of Erie; grandchildren, Samantha Lee (Adam), Dr. Alyssa Rovnak (Matthew), Olivia Bannister (Brennan) and Stevie Crockett Jr. (Bekah); four great grandchildren, Jaxon, Gianna, Madison and Freddie. Further surviving is his sister, Janice Sapp, of GA along with many nieces and nephews.
Services were private under the care of Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., Downtown, 602 W. 10th St., Erie.
