Howard Marsden Harding, III died peacefully Saturday October 26 surrounded by his loving family. He was 83
Howie was born in 1941 in Quincy to Howard M. Harding junior and Lucille E. Harding. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1959, and Northeastern University, Class of 1965. While at Northeastern he was a member of the university's only undefeated football team. Upon graduation he played football for the New Bedford Sweepers. He ended his long estimating career at James F. Stearns Company.
Howie married Mary Alicia Wilde in 1965. They lived first in Quincy, then in Marshfield where they raised their family. Howie enjoyed coaching youth baseball and soccer. His children and later his grandchildren filled his life.
Howie is survived by his wife Mary (Bunny) and his three children Howard Marsden IV (Woody), Jennifer Lynn Cotter (Jeffrey), and Andrew Harding (Elizabeth). He was the beloved grandfather to Jimmy, Joe, Anderson, Ellery, and David. He is also survived by his sister Marcia Bailey, her daughters Kimberley and Robyn, as well as Patricia and Edward Billington, Victoria Morrill, and Phillips and Anne Wilde. He has several nieces and nephews as well. He will be sorely missed by his family.
Howie was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He never met a person who was not soon a friend.
Friends and family may remember Howie on Sunday, November 3, with visiting hours from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.
