Howard McKnight

Howard McKnight, 96, of Plainfield, passed away surrounded by loving family members on October 18, 2023.  He was born on May 20, 1927 in Plainfield to the late Walter and Jewel McKnight.  Howard was a WWII United States Army veteran.  He worked for Royal Foods Warehouse as a foreman for 29 years and then Bessire retiring in 1992.  Howard was a long-standing member of the  Plainfield Baptist Church.  One of the most memorable time for him was when his grandson Josh chaperoned him on the Indy Honor Flight.  He enjoyed wood working, gardening, fishing in his free time.  Howard liked horses and taking his family on hayrides out at the farm.  He loved spending time with his family as often as he could.  Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary McKnight and 5 siblings.  Funeral services will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his sons, Ken (Susan), Michael (Mary), John (Karen) and Jeff (Kandi) McKnight; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
