On November 18, 2023, Howard Russell Milsted, Jr. of Audubon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Paulsboro and raised in West Collingswood Heights, Howard graduated from Audubon High School at the age of 16 and went on to attend Spring Garden College before completing his bachelor's degree at Drexel University. As an intern, in 1955, he went to work at Sabin and Associates which specializes in plumbing, HVAC and electrical contracting. In 1973, he purchased the company which he continued to run with his son and grandsons up until his recent illness.
Howard loved sports especially all four Philadelphia sports teams and he even had a tryout with the Philadelphia A's as a pitcher. Howard was a published author credited with four books including "A Real Love Story" and the sequel "Eyes from Above" detailing the love of his life, Claire Milsted. Howard was also an avid traveler and an award-winning clockmaker.
Howard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claire (nee Helms) in 2009. He is the devoted father of David R. (Edwina) Milsted of Haddon Heights, Darin R. Milsted of West Collingswood Heights and Terri B. (Kevin) Schules of Hi Nella. He is the loving grandfather of Adam (Eileen), Rebekah (Anthony), Erick and Jasen and great-grandfather of Leo and Bryson. He is also survived by his dear sister, Joyce Mangini
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights where his Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Reverand William Hample presiding. Interment immediately following at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice at Samaritan Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176-1425 or online at www.samitannj.org. To honor Howard's wishes, please wear your favorite Philadelphia team apparel to his viewing / service.
