Hueston Gene Marshall, of Columbia, passed away February 19, 2025 at Maury Regional Medical Center with his wife Emily by his side. He was 84 years old.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rusty Colvett and Edd Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 PM until the service time. Burial will be conducted February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Moss Church of Christ Cemetery in Moss, Tennessee.

Hueston was born on January 11, 1941 in Glasgow, KY, to the late Willard and Julia Arms Marshall. Raised on a farm in Moss, Tennessee, he graduated from Celina High School then attended Lipscomb University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Upon graduation, he earned a Master of Education plus 40 from Middle Tennessee State University. While attending Lipscomb, Hueston met the love of his life, Emily Krause Marshall. The two were married in 1962 and spent 62 wonderful years together.
Throughout his life, Hueston preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 65 years throughout Kentucky and Tennessee and was a Preacher at six congregations, culminating at Beech Hill Church of Christ. Hueston was an educator for 46 years teaching English at several schools, including Sante Fe, Hampshire and Mount Pleasant, and was a Supervisor of Special Education for Maury County. While at Mount Pleasant High School, he also directed the Senior play and announced football and basketball sporting events. He was also a member of Civitan for more than 50 years and served as president several times.
Hueston and Emily shared his passion for gardening and travel. Each year he spent countless hours cultivating their vegetable garden and enjoyed sharing his tomatoes with family, friends and neighbors. They also travelled to over 30 countries throughout the world including Israel, Egypt and Russia.
Hueston and Emily were blessed with two children, Steve and Melanie, and three grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan and Kaley.
In addition to his wife, Emily, he is survived by his son, Steve and his wife Teresa Marshall of Murfreesboro; daughter, Melanie and her husband Darryl Smith of Morristown; grandchildren, Ashley and her husband Robert Rogers of Austin, TX; Ryan Marshall of Murfreesboro; and Kaley Smith of Columbia.
Hueston is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Julia Arms Marshall.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Brooks, Bill Johnson, Tommy Mayberry, Randy McNeece, Charley Phillips, Billy Sims, and Huey Smith.
