On Friday, January 24th at 2:15 P.M. surrounded by her children, grandchildren and cousins, Hugerietta took her last breath and went home to be reunited with her mother Estelle and father Fred Franklin. Hugerietta Belinda Franklin known as "Hugie" was born on September 7, 1949 in Cabarrus County to Fred and Estelle Franklin.
Hugerietta was a graduate of Logan High School. Shortly after she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education from Barber-Scotia College in 1971 and a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from UNC Charlotte in 1977.
She was employed with Stonewall Jackson Juvenille Detention Center where she retired from after thirty years. Hugerietta was a true woman of service. She was a member of First Congressional United Church of Christ. Hugie was a member of the Missionary Circle B.A.S.I.C. Usher Board and Church Council Chair. Hugerietta was a devoted member of the Epsilon Omega Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., she was also one of the Charter Members of the Concord Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta where she held the office of President from 2010-2014. She also was an amazing member of the NAACP, Logan Ministers Association and Logan Shackleton School Association.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two children: Dexter and Valeria of the home; sister, Crystal Franklin of Mooresville, NC; four grandchildren: Daraies, Jocelyn, Da'quan, Johnakin; aunt and uncle, Clarence and Eva Mae of Concord, NC and a host of loving cousins friends and the community. Hugerietta will truly be missed.
Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Barber-Scotia College. The visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Rutherford Memorial Park in Concord. Lamb Funeral Home Inc. will be serving the family.
