Ida Jane Garnett, 82, of Columbia, formerly of Slater, died Monday, September 15, 2025 at The Westbury in Columbia.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Rehoboth Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Rehoboth Cemetery or Slater Public Library in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born August 9, 1943 in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Rogers and Martha Jane Gilliam Murray. On February 13, 1965 in Slater, she married Robert K. "Kirt" Garnett, and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2004.

She is survived by three sisters, Barbara Campbell of Denver, Colorado, Martha McCabe and her husband Fred of Columbia, and Margaret Viertel and her husband Bruce of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Garnett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slater. She was a 1961 graduate of Slater High School, a 1963 graduate of William Woods University in Fulton, and a 1965 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a second-grade teacher in the Slater School District, retiring in 1998. She moved to Columbia in 2018 from Slater.
