Ilean M. Lijewski, age 90, of Erie, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024. She was born in Warren, PA on July 1, 1934, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Wrobel.
Ilean was a graduate of Academy High School. She had worked at Battersby and Sarah Reed Nursing Home. Her most cherished time was being a 15-year volunteer with the Activity Department at the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home and enjoyed the many outings and activities she did with the residents. In 1997, Ilean was recognized by the GECAC Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council with a plaque for her outstanding service to the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571, active for many years at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, where she was a Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts and Explorers. Ilean especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ilean is survived by three children, Ronald Lijewski, Karen Danowski and Roberto Lijewski; two sisters, Elaine Seebach and Jane Hamm; four grandchildren, Sunday Mong, Jason Lijewski (Jessi), and Nathan (Heather) and Tracy Danowski and; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Kellie, Jamie, Zackery and Cody; one niece, Diana Trivett; two nephews, Craig and David Tate; and her extended family, the Dempsey's and Schultz's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Lijewski; and one daughter, Carol Lijewski.
Friends will be received at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 2701 East Avenue, on Saturday, November 9th, from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
