Ingrid A. Chayka

Ingrid A. Chayka, 79, a longtime resident of Lapeer, passed away on December 1, 2025. She was born on October 23, 1946, in Rochester, Michigan, to William and Margit Reeves. Ingrid graduated from Rochester High School, Class of 1964, and married the love of her life, Joseph P. Chayka, Jr., on April 30, 1966.
Ingrid spent 25 dedicated years working in the medical field before retiring to focus on what mattered most to her-her family. She poured her heart into caring for her grandchildren and creating a home filled with warmth, prayer, and unconditional love. She and Joe were devoted members and elders of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, where their faith and service touched many lives.
Ingrid's heart overflowed with love, forgiveness, faith, and kindness. Her trust in God never wavered. She cherished the Word, her prayers, her family, and all of life's simple blessings. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, we find peace in knowing she is at rest-free from suffering and held in the loving arms of Jesus.
Her life verse:
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6–7
Ingrid is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph P. Chayka, Jr.; her children Brad (Shannon) Chayka of Lapeer and Amy (Douglas) Jackson of Lapeer; grandchildren Alexandra Blake, Ashlee (Matthew) Fredenburg, Isaiah Jackson, Lydia Jackson, and Saylor Chayka; great-grandchildren Theo Blake, Rylee, Dayton, and Ainslee Ingrid Fredenburg; brother Brian (Edit) Reeves; and many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law: Nancy Reeves, Lucy Reeves, John (Linda) Chayka, Janice Allard, James Chayka, Christine Ritchie, Mary Chayka-Crawford, Cathy Chayka, and Marlene Milburn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents William and Margit Reeves; brothers Timothy Reeves, Daniel Reeves; and brother-in-law Mark Chayka.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 AM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors – Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Pastor Dan Turner will officiate. Friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to the Pregnancy Center of Lapeer.
