Iona Bailey Obituary
Iona was born February 11, 1942 in Long Pole near Panther, WV a daughter of the late Wyatt and Myrtle Adkins Bailey. Iona was the last surviving member of her original family. She was a home maker and loved the Lord.
In addition to her parents, Wyatt and Myrtle Bailey, Iona was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Luther Bailey; brothers, Arland, John, Fred, Ed, Frank, Tommy and Dave Bailey; and sisters, Magdalene Mounts and Loraine Bailey.
Survivors include three daughters, Lanetta Grainger and husband Jimmy of Thomasville, NC, Tina Hunt and husband John of Alderson, WV, and Anna Martin and husband Steve of Thomasville, NC; seven grandchildren, Nicole Phillips, Jessica James, Michael Salyers, Tommy Hunt, Burt Hunt, William Hunt, and Mikayla Martin; great grandchildren, Ciera McClanahan, Paris McClanahan, Brooklin McClanahan, Quinten Tuttle, Davian Watson, Alexander Salyers, Oliver Salyers, Scott Salyers, Jonathan Hunt, Jacob Hunt, Madelyn Hunt, Alivia Hunt, and Colton Hunt; two great-great granddaughters, Adalynn Claire and Melani; and on great-great granddaughter on the way, Kylian Martin Martinez.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 10, 2023 at 1 o'clock with Reverend Homer Blankenship and Reverend Jackie Jesse officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery on Lower Long Pole near Panther, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger Thursday evening, November 9, 2023 from 6 to 9 p.m. Evening services will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
