Ira Padgett Jr.

Ira Padgett Jr., age 74, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira John Padgett Sr. and Claudine Mildred Padgett; and brother, Danny Padgett.

A proud American patriot, Ira honorably served his county in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated himself to protecting the freedoms and values that define our great nation. His service instilled in him a deep sense of duty, honor, and love for the United States that remained with him throughout his life.

Ira found joy in many pursuits, including his passion for computers and technology, where he enjoyed exploring new innovations. He cherished traveling, camping, and the possibility of striking it rich. Above all, his faith in The Lord was the cornerstone of his life guiding him with unwavering devotion and bringing him comfort and strength.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carolyn Whaley Padgett; sons and daughters-in-law, Devin and Zana Padgett, and Frank and Karen England, all of Dalton; daughters and son-in-law, Carrie Lee of Resaca, and Christi and Ricky Chumley of Dalton; grandchildren, Jessica and Jaclyn Rodgers, Molly England, Burgandi Matthews, Eli and Jacob Chumley, Aubrey Creel, Emma Padgett, Hunter and Ashley Padgett, Cameron and Hayden Padgett; great grandchildren, Pressley Morgan, Ryland, Archie and Hudson Padgett; and special little buddy, Aaron Pinson.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Turley and Rev. Charlie Bridges officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the service hour of 3:00 PM.
