Annie Irene McNeill May was born December 14, 1950, in Payson, Utah to David and Ella McNeill.
She gained her wings and graduated from this earthy life surrounded by family on May 10, 2025, in West Valley City, Utah.
Irene cherished her family and was blessed with 5 children of her own and gained 5 bonus children when she rekindled her romance with her sweetheart from junior high, Ted May.
Irene enjoyed spending quality time with family and making memories that will be cherished for years to come. As her health declined she cherished the time spent with loved ones even more. She attended Granger High School where she made life-long friends.
She had special place in her heart for little Bella the dog.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents David and Ella McNeill; siblings David and La June Robins,Tamera Jones, Don Ray McNeill, and Forrest McNiell. She is survived by her sweetheart Ted May; sister Glenna Molyneux; children Skip Shaffer (Amanda), Travis (Cheryl) Shaffer, Cody (Tiffany) Shaffer, Joshua (Layna) May, Ann Shaffer, Rebecca (Douglas) Ruegger, Dawnesia Shaffer-Davis, Jacob (Rachel) May, Joseph (Michele) May, and Jesse (Ashley) May. She was blessed with 48 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Holy Cross Hospital, West Campus.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate our aMAYzing wife, mother, grandma, great-grandmother, and friend.
