Irene M. Miletta brightened this world on October 21, 1940, and peacefully went home to the Lord on May 13, 2024. Born in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico to José & Concepcion Martinez, Irene enjoyed an idylic childhood, growing up with her sister Raquel and many cousins; and was a parade princess in their small town at around age 5. Later, as a young girl, she went to boarding school in León, Guanajuato Mexico.
After returning to Nogales, the beautiful Irene caught the eye of the handsome Raymundo Garcia. They soon married, started their family and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in the summer of 1962. Their five children are Joe, Ligia, Jerry, Claudia, and Gus. Her daughters preceded her in death.
Her second marriage to Joseph Miletta took place June 6, 1980. Theirs was a deep & abiding love; they were very happily married for 39 years until his passing.
Irene was blessed to have 11 grandkids, 12 great grandkids and 2 great-great grandkids. Being "Nana" was one of her greatest joys; she would tell anyone; anytime exactly how wonderful her grands were!
Among her life highlights were enjoying her family, spending special time with her grandchildren, traveling for hair shows, and shopping with her daughter Ligia. She also had many wonderful clients/friends as a hairdresser for over 40 years.
To know Irene was to love her. She accepted & loved everyone and was always willing with an encouraging word and a helpful hand in any way she could. Her easy manner, quick smile & positive outlook made her a joy to be around.
Irene is survived by her sons Joe (& Lisa) Garcia, Jerry (& Marisa) Garcia and Gus Garcia and their families. Son-in-law Roger Salazar and his family. Her sister Raquel Horne and her family. Her half siblings Joe (& Eva) Martinez, Javier (& Charlotte) Martinez and Ligia (& Tom) Gilmour and their families. Her step Kids: Greg & Gloria Garcia. And she is survived by her huge extended family; too numerous to list but everyone was close to her heart.
She will be missed by all who knew her and the biggest gift she gave to those close to her was her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord and the example of consistently gathering with the body of believers at OLPH, Saint Maria Goretti, Saint Daniel and Queen of Peace Church. Irene lived her Catholic faith every single day.
Mom, we know you've seen the face of Jesus and are enjoying your new place in heaven. we will see each other again.
