Irene Perez, 75, of Gibsonburg, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Parkcliff Care Center in Northwood, OH. She was born March 22, 1950 in Laredo, TX the daughter of Cresencio and Zenaida (Arriaga) Celestino.
Irene had a vibrant spirit and a love for life that was evident in her many passions. She found joy in garage sales and flea markets, where she would often scour for hidden treasures. Her creativity blossomed through coloring, a pastime that allowed her to express her artistic side. Beyond her personal interests, Irene was a generous supporter of causes close to her heart, including the Humane Society and Wounded Warriors, as well as her unwavering commitment to the Catholic Diocese.
Family gatherings were a highlight of Irene's life, where laughter and love filled the air. She had a soft spot for the neighborhood cats, often sharing her home with a few furry friends, and her beloved dog, Missy, was a constant companion who brought her much comfort and joy.
Surviving are her daughters Elizabeth (Joe) Sievert, Anna (Lesa) Perez, Maggie (Gabrielle) Perez and Rachel (Travis) Updike; 8 grandchildren; 2 great- grandchildren; siblings: Mary (Buddy) Lopez of Genoa, Frank (Irma) Celestino of Fremont, Alice (Vincent) Sanchez of Lindsey, Santos Celestino of Gibsonburg, sisters-in-law Apolonia (Dagoberto) Ramirez of Ft. Meyer, FL and Eva Celestino; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan; daughter Angela; siblings: Juan Celestino; Josefa (Luis) Guardiola; Margarita (Luis) Mendoza.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 10, from 2-4 & 5-7PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Msgr. Tad Oxley will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery and a luncheon will take place immediately following at St. Michael's fellowship hall. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Sandusky County Humane Society, The Guadalupe Society or Saint Michael Catholic Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
