Born in Corinth, Texas – Passed Away July 28, 2025
With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, the family of Irene Sedonia Kuzel Rollins announces her passing on July 28, 2025. Born in Corinth, Texas, Irene lived a life marked by strength, dedication, and a loving spirit that touched all who knew her.
Irene graduated from Cameron High School and attended secretarial school in Victoria, Texas. After moving to San Antonio, she met and married Joseph Justus Rollins, a member of the U.S. Air Force. Their life together included living in various locations across the United States and England, which sparked Irene's passion for travel. She and her sister later traveled extensively throughout Europe, and while her daughter lived in Korea, Irene visited her family there and took a memorable side trip to Hong Kong. She and her sisters also traveled extensively in the United States.
After her son entered first grade, Irene reentered the workforce, beginning at Potts Hardware and Ben Newman's Department Store in Belton, Texas as the bookkeeper. She then devoted over 40 years as a dental assistant at Fort Hood, retiring at the mandatory age of 76. Even after her children were raised, her work ethic remained strong; she took a part-time cashier job at the historic restaurant, The Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Texas, retiring finally at age 86.
Irene was known for her keen intellect and interest in politics, avidly following MSNBC and current events. After the passing of her husband, she made her home in Belton, Texas, where she lived for more than 60 years.
She is survived by her son, John Edwards Rollins, Robin Worley his longtime partner, her daughter Elizabeth Cook and husband Gregory; grandson Justin Cook; great-grandson Noah Cook; great-granddaughter Ava Cook; as well as cousins, nieces, and a host of friends who loved her dearly.
