Irma C. Alwell went to be with the lord on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born January 12, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Jesus Herrera-Cook and Micaela Talamantez-Cook.
Irma spent 36 years of her professional career being a bilingual educator for South San Independent School District and Harlandale Independent School District. When Irma was not working, she would spend her time shopping at her favorite Goodwill locations. She enjoyed collecting all types of depression glass, one-of-a-kind potteries and rare furniture from the 1900s to the late 1960's. Irma also enjoyed refinishing a lot of her furniture finds, that she would call "goodies". Everyone knew Irma for her elegant and stylish appearance. She also spent a great deal of her time tending to the care of her brother, Jesse.
Irma is preceded in death by her parents and her "beloved" grandson, Joshua O'Ryan DeVorah-Robles.
Irma is survived by both of her loving children: (son) Roy Bennett DeVorah (Martha), (daughter) Jenifer Annick Mireles (Cruz); brother, Jesse T. Cook; grandchildren: Martin Rene DeVorah-Robles, Madysen Ranae DeVorah, Shelby Ann DeVorah, Izaiah Bennet DeVorah, Cali Jessel DeVorah and Gavin Michael DeVorah, along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
Irma will be remembered and deeply missed by those she had the pleasure of gracing with her abundancy of knowledge, years of worldly experience and not to the forget her unique way of loving others.
