Reverend Isaac McDaniel

Reverend Isaac McDaniel, born Mark Stephen McDaniel on July 12, 1949 and baptized at Trinity Episcopal Church in Owensboro, Kentucky passed away February 12, 2024 at the age of 74. Father attended Emerson Elementary School and Newton Parrish Elementary School, both in Owensboro, Kentucky, Owensboro High School, and Centre College. He attended Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in Saint Meinrad, Indiana for major seminary. He was ordained a priest on May 2, 1982. Father completed graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, earning an M.A. in History (1984), and Ph.D. in History (1991).
Father McDaniel was a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey from August 1976 until November 2002, when he incardinated into the Archdiocese of Louisville. Prior to serving the Archdiocese of Louisville and following ordination, Father taught at Saint Meinrad Seminary and served as Pastor at St. Isidore, in Bristow, Indiana and Holy Cross, in St. Croix, Indiana. Following incardination, Father served as Associate Pastor at St. Gabriel, Part Time Associate Pastor at St. John Vianney and St. Jerome, in Fairdale, Kentucky, and as Sacramental Moderator at St. Timothy, Our Lady Help of Christians, and St. Patrick, in West Point, Kentucky. Father was also a faculty member at both Bellarmine University and Spalding University while in residence at Saint Mary, in Hillview, Kentucky, Saint Jerome, and Saint Barnabas. Most recently, Father Isaac provided Sacramental assistance at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Father McDaniel was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward McDaniel and Anne Crenshaw Egerton McDaniel, and is survived by his brother, John Michael (Barbara Lee), niece, Lucy Marie, and nephew, Otis McDaniel.
Public visitation is set for Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Ratterman & Sons, located at 3800 Bardstown Road, in Louisville, Kentucky, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, located at 508 Breckenridge Lane, in Louisville, Kentucky, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in Calvary Cemetery.
