Isabelle Rita Verducci, 90, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. Born July 7, 1934, in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Florence (Imondi) Verducci.
A devoted mother, Isabelle found her greatest joy in raising her three children after a long struggle with miscarriages. Later, she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Rhode Island and worked as a teacher's aide in the Johnston School Department and preschool teacher Green Acres Country Day School.
She went on to serve in Governor J. Joseph Garrahy's administration, holding several key positions, including Administrative Secretary at the Rhode Island State House. Following her time in the governor's office, she joined the Rhode Island State Police, where she played a pivotal role in launching the Missing and Exploited Children Unit in 1984. She attributed her strong computer skills to specialized training she received in Washington, D.C., where she learned to navigate the National Criminal Database system. She retired in 1996, widely respected for her dedication, compassion, and professionalism.
Isabelle lived a full and vibrant life, bringing joy and warmth to all who knew her. She was a beloved presence at every family gathering, always there to cheer you on and the first to open the dance floor. As a spirited and adventurous grandmother, she embraced every moment-whether soaring in a hot air balloon, enjoying boat rides, or taking scenic trips throughout New England. She loved to cook and passed down cherished recipes and traditions to her family. She also cared for many children as a loving nanny. A three-time cancer survivor who faced many health challenges, Isabelle remained resilient, positive, and strong throughout her life.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Isabelle prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily, read her Bible faithfully, and attended Mass regularly. Her trust in God carried her through both joy and sorrow. She often said that her strength came from prayer, and she actively served others through volunteer work with nonprofits, church groups, and community committees. Her life was a reflection of humility, generosity, and quiet spiritual strength.
In her later years, she moved to Jamestown, where she treasured the natural beauty of Beavertail and was honored by the Jamestown Housing Authority for her service to the community. Becoming a great-grandmother brought her profound joy, and she was especially excited to learn that her 12th great-grandchild was on the way.
She is survived by her children, Maribeth Carcieri, Cheryl Corbesero, and Steven Corbesero (Karen); grandchildren, Anthony J. Rainone II (Sara), Krystal Carcieri Carnes (Kevin), DJ Carcieri (Amy), Anthony Carcieri (Morgan), Matthew Rainone (Taylor), Steven Jr. (Meg), and James Corbesero (Julia); and great-grandchildren, Ella, Liliana, Jameson, Lavina, Kensington, Carter, Kamden, Anthony Jr., Gia, Christopher, and Olivia. She was the sister of Florence Manfredi of California.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 2, from 8–9 a.m. at "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
