Iury Maytin Obituary

He is survived by his family, Edward (wife Mary and children Alex, Andrew, and Avery) of Ohio and Terence (wife Gail and children Lauren and Jason) of New Jersey.
Born in Belgium, Iury immigrated to the US in 1940 and joined the army near the end of WWII. He met his soulmate Amparo in the Philippines and married her in 1949. She predeceased him in 2011. After moving back to the US in 1951, Iury completed a master's degree in civil engineering. In 1963, he moved his family to Potsdam NY and became a professor at Clarkson University until retirement, eventually moving to Ohio in 2006.
Iury was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, hobbyist, and music lover.
He will be laid to rest at Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam, NY, beside his beloved wife Amparo. The burial on October 24 will be a private event for family members only.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where friends may share memories and offer condolences online at www.donaldsonseymour.com.
