LISBON – Stanley D. Sharrer, 88, passed away peacefully at his home early Friday morning, October 10, 2025 after a brief illness.
Stanley was born October 31, 1936 in Springtown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles and Clara (Moyer) Sharrer. He attended rural schools in Pennsylvania before attending Palisades High School.
Stanley worked in the machine shop at Bethlehem Steel for many years, retiring as the foreman in the #8 Machine Shop. He was also a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working on his cars and tractors. Additionally, Stanley had a great love for singing and regularly participated in local jam sessions.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Mary, whom he married on March 4, 2005 in Heuvelton; his children, Cheryl Thomas of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Wendy (James) Smith of Statesville, North Carolina, and Wayne Sharrer of Hermon; his step children, Sue Remington and Royal Remington; his granddaughter, Amanda (Brett) Kuhn; his great granddaughter, Emileigh Kuhn, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sherri L. Reichert and his sisters, Caroline Sedli and Doris Carlton.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, however there will be no services.
