Ivan Lamar Alston was the son of the late Earl and Patricia Alston. He departed this earthly life on Friday, August 30, 2024. He was known as "Ike" or "Unc" to his friends, and as "Big Unc" to his great-nephews and nieces.
Ivan graduated from Hugh M. Cummings High School in Burlington, NC and attended Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC. He was employed at ABB in Mebane, NC.
If you knew Ivan, then you know he was the type of person that would help anybody if he could. He enjoyed learning new things and sharing what he learned to help others. He loved his family and friends and was always the "Life of the Party." He always looked after everybody and made sure everything was alright. He was the lifeline that kept us safe and came to the rescue whenever he was called. Ivan would say, "I'm on the way" and he always showed up for every event. He attended all basketball and football games, graduations, birthday parties, cookouts, as well as other family gatherings. Ivan also spent a lot of time with his Uncle Roy, who was his father figure when his own father passed away on his fifth birthday.
Ivan is survived by girlfriend Tamika Miller and dog, Lulu of the home; two sisters, Kimberly Alston and Michelle Alston; god brother, Antonio Hopper; five nephews, Jared Alston, Jordan Alston, Caleb Alston, Micah Alston, and Joshua Alston; 3 great-nephews, Marley Alston, Jordan Alston, Jr., and Kobe Alston; two great-nieces, Nevaeh Alston, and Kimaligrace Alston; two god nephews, Josiah Hopper and Jamari Hopper; one god niece; Avani Hopper; grandmother, Hazel Patterson; two best friends Kai Woods (Slow Luv) and Mark Bethea (Gonzo); and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ivan had a favorite saying about "FEELINGS" that he would let everybody know and go on about his way. He will be missed greatly.
