It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myra Lynn Fuqua, who left us on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Born on October 24, 1961, Myra was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother whose life touched the hearts of many.
A proud graduate of Hugh M. Cummings High School in 1980, Myra was a shining student, honored as a member of the National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, and Foreign Language Club. Her musical talents blossomed early, beginning piano lessons as a young girl and later playing the flute and piccolo in her high school's concert and marching bands.
Myra pursued higher education at Appalachian State University and Guilford County Community College before embarking on a meaningful career at Labcorp in their business office. Her passion for family and food led her to manage T.J.'s Family Restaurant, where she worked alongside loved ones, creating delicious meals and fostering lasting friendships.
In 1986, Myra married Thomas Paige Fuqua, the love of her life, and they built a warm home together in Burlington, North Carolina. A devoted member of Harvest Baptist Church, she embraced her faith and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through when she opened a small restaurant in southern Alamance County and began catering weddings and special events.
Later in life, Myra brought her talents to The Molding Company and Cookout, all the while nurturing her many hobbies. An avid reader and a well of knowledge, she also expressed her creativity through crocheting, crafting beautiful blankets and throws cherished by friends and family.
Myra is survived by her son, Kenneth Fuqua and wife, Meredith; daughter, Victoria Canady; sister, Laura Bivins and husband, Kirk; brother, Hoyle Richard Canady, Jr. and wife, Brandy; granddaughters, Piper Fuqua and Paisley Canady; step-daughter, Kari Vaughn and husband, Russell; niece, Caroline Etheridge and fiance, Dawson Link; and nephews, Joshua Etheridge, Christian Etheridge, and Nate Bivins and fiance, Maddi Hintze. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paige Fuqua and her parents, Elmira and Hoyle Richard Canady.
Her family and friends will forever cherish her kindness, love, and the joyful spirit she shared with all. As one tribute lovingly states, "We will miss you dearly, your love and kindness will remain in our hearts forever."
May Myra Lynn Fuqua rest in peace, her legacy of love and generosity enduring in the lives she touched.
