Ivan J. Schnars age 76, of Erie, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Meadville on August 27, 1948 to the late Ivan W. and Doris Robinson Schnars.
Ivan graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1967. He worked in mechanical maintenance at General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 2003. Following retirement, he was a custodian for the Millcreek School District for 10 years. He was a member of First Alliance Church, Siebenbuerger Club, Great Lakes Classic Chevy Club and Erie Guild of Craftsmen. He also enjoyed NASCAR and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nancy English Schnars, sister, Karen Schnars, and brothers Robert Schnars and Brian Schnars (Karen).
Ivan is survived by his daughter, Tammie Larsen (Dan) of Angier, NC; son, Ivan Karl Schnars (Lisa) of Erie and brothers, Mark Schnars, Tim Schnars of Erie, and Matt Schnars of Ohio. He is further survived by grandchildren, Destinee Larsen and Hunter Larsen, both of Angier, NC and Rachel Nicolls (Kyle) of Erie, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and sister-in-law Cindy Anderson of Orange Park, FL.
Friends may call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 w. 10TH Street, Erie on Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held there on Monday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
