J. Edwin "Eddie" Hixson, 76, of Oberlin, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 5, 1948, Eddie was the son of the late Ron and Joan (Swinburne) Biggs. He was the devoted husband of Alice J. (Fenstermaker) Hixson, with whom he shared 46 cherished years of marriage.
A graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, Eddie went on to earn his associate's degree from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). He spent his early years managing a restaurant and later worked as a food truck delivery driver, where his friendly nature and steady reliability left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.
Eddie was a lifelong baseball fan, a lover of quiet pastimes like puzzles and puzzle games, and an avid TV watcher. He also had a deep appreciation for the natural world, especially through his interest in nature photography. He had a special fondness for cats, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family.
Eddie will be remembered for his calm spirit, his thoughtful nature, and the love he showed those closest to him. He lived a life grounded in simple joys, family connections, and quiet passions, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his son, Donald Bishop, III; his daughter, Lori Hixson; his 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Toineeta and Kameron Bishop; his 2 brothers, Tom Hixson and Barry Hixson; his sister, Barb Knott; and several nieces; nephews; and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his infant brother, Tim Hixson; his brother-in-law, John Knott; and his beloved cat, Clown.
