J.W. Langton, 80, of Fort Gibson, was born October 26, 1942, in Muskogee, OK to Joe and Agatha (Cooper) Langton and passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, in Muskogee, OK.
J.W. was a Fort Gibson resident for 51 years. He graduated from Fort Gibson High School and furthered his education by attending Tulsa Barber College. He loved people and it showed by the 58 years that he owned and operated Roffler of Muskogee. J.W. was more than just a barber, he was a marriage counselor, a shoulder to lean on, someone to talk to, and most importantly, he was a friend. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Jarreldine Isom, on August 25, 1962, at Fort Gibson First Baptist Church and was happily married for over 60 years. J.W. proudly served his Country in the National Guard. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Muskogee until his health wouldn't allow him to attend. J.W. loved being outdoors, working in his garden, hunting anything that breathed oxygen, and fishing. J.W. and Jerry loved to travel and eat out. Later in life when he was not able to dine inside, he and Jerry would still go out, but eat in the car just to see his friends and be around people. J.W. will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
J.W. is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Langton; nephew, Kevin Brannon; brother-in-law, Harold Brannon; son-in-law, Eric Petty; and his best friends, Jerry Echols and Bob Lewis.
J.W. is lovingly survived by his loving wife, Jerry of the home; daughters, Shanna Bandy and husband, David of Coweta, OK and Kimberly Gingrich and husband, Sean of Fort Gibson; granddaughters, Kelsea and Hayley Bandy, both of Coweta, OK and Lauren Petty of Broken Arrow, OK; grandson, Colton Petty of Broken Arrow, OK; great-granddaughters, Adelynn and Carrigan Petty, both of Broken Arrow, OK; a great-grandbaby, Baby Petty on the way; sister, JoAnn Brannon of Fort Gibson, OK; nephew, Doug Brannon and wife, Beth of Fort Gibson, OK; extended family, and many friends.
A celebration of J.W.'s life will be 10AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Citizens Cemetery Pavilion, in Fort Gibson, with Pastor Eddie Moore and Doug Brannon officiating. David Bandy, Sean Gingrich, Colton Petty, Ben Moore, Eddie Moore, and Doug Brannon will be serving as casket bearers. Serving as an honorary casket bearer is Jerry Echols.
