Jacinth Brown daughter of Edna and Joseph Nelson Brown was born in Brown's Town Saint Ann Jamaica, W.I., on September 20, 1943.
Jacinth (affectionally called Jay or Peggy by those who loved her) attended Brown's Town Infant School and then Brown's Town Primary School. She excelled in her studies and continued her education by enrolling into two Tutorial Colleges where she received a scholarship to go to Kingston to learn about Secretarial Studies which included Shorthand and other Clerical duties which she was very good at. Jay's first job as a Secretary was with Micheal Manley of the PNP Party.
Jacinth migrated to the United States of America in 1964 to Ohio; then to Florida where she was employed by Ma Bell as a Switchboard Operator. For years she resided between Jamaica and Florida. In 2004, she decided to make Plant City, Florida her permanent home away from home. Peggy never lost her love for her homeland - Jamaica and was always going back for the warmth and holiness of family and friends.
Jacinth had many talents which she shared from the kindness of her heart including sewing and singing. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Church Choir as well as Cultural Choirs.
Jacinth was a very strong, resilient, independent woman who always made sure you spoke proper English -- very jubilant, talkative, and stern. Jay was a brilliant woman.
Jacinth is preceded in death by her parents Edna and Joseph Brown; brothers: Carl Reid, Winston Brown, and Roydel Brown.
Jacinth leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: Monique Brown, daughter; Chloe Rose Marseille, granddaughter; siblings: Loui Allen Gayle, Henry Brown (Cynthia), Olga Brown, Keith Brown (Ursula), Beverly Brown, Alexia True (Noel); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends in Jamaica, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Bahamas, and United States of America.
This world will not be the same without her - hold on to those "Precious Memories" especially the ones that will give you a chuckle every now and then. It's not a goodbye - as Peggy would say, "meck me pick up me folly ground."
