Jack Franklin Churn (92) went home to be with the Lord on October 8th, 2025, on his & his devoted wife's, 50th anniversary. He was born in Norfolk County, VA on January 28, 1933 to Herbert & Katie Churn. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers & sisters, as well as his beloved daughter, Lisa (Greg). He is survived by his wife, Betty, son Robert (Jeanette), daughter Jackie (Dave), daughter Sherry (Craig), 4 grandchildren (Jason, Michael, Lauren & Trevor), & 7 great grandchildren (Jackson, Daniela, Maverick, Madelyn, Bianca, Lola & Alessandra).

Jack was very proud to say he played varsity baseball & football for his beloved Great Bridge High School, graduating when the school only had 11 grades in 1950. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War in the tank division as a Staff Sergeant, followed by several years in the US Army Reserves. He then worked for Mobil Oil/ExxonMobil for 50 years as the Chesapeake plant's Dock Master. Jack was an avid lover of hunting & fishing & had (what felt like) hundreds of unique sayings. One of our favorites was "you don't mess with my wife, my children, or my money…in that order!". Everyone who knew him says he was one of a kind & one of the good ones.

He will be mostly remembered for his kindness & unwavering love for God & his family. His laughter & many stories from the past were gifts to us all. His love for the Lord knew no bounds. Unlike footprints in the sand, the footprints he's left in our hearts will not wash away but will last an eternity.

Per his request, there will not be a service following cremation. Oman Funeral Home located at 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322 is handling arrangements.
