Jack Barr Painter II, 82, of Ocala, Florida, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Jack was born in Columbus, Ohio to Jack and Eloise (Kislig) Painter, June 22,1943. Jack's father, a WWII B-17 pilot was KIA in August 1943. In the years following, his mother remarried and the family moved to Lafayette, Tennessee.

Upon graduation from Middle Tennessee State University, he was commissioned into the US Army. Jack served in Vietnam in 1969. Jack referred to the Army as "the best job he ever had". He loved serving his country, and the men with whom he served. During his Army years, Jack was able to coach Army league football, his first love!

After active duty, Jack joined the Insurance industry and moved to Denver, Colorado where he met is wife, Leslie, in 1990.

He and Leslie returned to his hometown of Lafayette, where he had his next "best job he ever had" teaching and coaching football. Having coached football, throughout much of his life, from Peewee's to Semi Pro, he was so proud and grateful, to be a part of the coaching staff at Macon Co. High School, for the 2024 State Championship Team.

Jack and Leslie then moved to Hatteras Island, NC where he finally found his "home"!

Jack, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, snow skiing and scuba diving.

Jack is survived by his wife, Leslie, daughter Rebecca Sanchez (BJ), granddaughter, Emilia Darley (Aaron) and great-grandchildren, Ashley Darley and Tucker Darley.

"We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will

surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.

May God bless you and keep you– until then."

You have trudged well…

"Rest easy, sleep well my brothers. Know the line has held, your job is done."
