Jack "Papa" Robert Stampley, age 81, of Nederland, Texas, departed this life on March 23, 2025. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lynda, who passed away March 17, 2025. Born on October 23, 1943, in Springhill, Louisiana, Jack lived a life rich in love, kindness, and dedication to family.
Jack was a retired electrician with IBEW Local 479 for 57 years, honing his craft and proudly serving the community. A devoted member of First Methodist Church in Nederland, Jack was actively involved in his community. Outside of his professional life, he and Lynda opened their hearts and home as foster parents for children in need, sharing the profound love they had for each other with those who needed it most. This legacy of compassion and care touched the lives of many, providing support and comfort in challenging times.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Jack made an unforgettable impression on everyone he met. His vibrant spirit extended beyond his personal relationships; he was an avid follower of Nederland football and participated in all local sporting events. A dedicated grandfather and great-grandfather, Jack never missed opportunities to cheer on his 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, always present at their sporting activities and tournaments, embodying the very essence of encouragement and support.
Jack is survived by his children, Gena Worsham and her husband, Richard, Scott Stampley and his wife, Wendi, and Kevin Stampley and his wife, Gina. He shared a special bond with his brother, Jimmy Stampley, who continues to carry forth their family's legacy. Additionally, Jack will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with one more great-grandchild expected to join the family in May.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Stampley and Sudye (Moss) Stampley, as well as his brother, Gary Stampley, and sisters, Bette Pontiff and Carolyn Durban.
Jack's life was one of unfaltering strength, boundless love, and a commitment to family and community. His memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with the funeral to celebrate the lives of Jack and Lynda Stampley will begin at 10:45 AM at First Methodist Church in Nederland, located at 1300 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, TX, 77627. Interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, TX.
