Myra McKeever, born on November 10, 1932, was called to her eternal home on September 28, 2025. A cherished matriarch of her family, she lived a life rich with love and devotion, leaving behind memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Myra was the beloved wife of the late Courtney G. McKeever. Together they built a family centered on unity, compassion, and resilience. Myra was the proud mother of four sons: M. Wayne Gunter, who, along with his wife, Laurie, resided in Spurger, and their children, Laura and Paul; Weldon L. Gunter of Port Neches; Ronald G. Gunter of Onalaska, and his children, Stacy, Eric, and Holly; Richard W. McKeever, accompanied by his wife, Carol, of Nederland, bringing forth their children, Denise and Brian; and the devoted Beverly L. McKeever of Round Rock, Texas, nurturing her daughters, Che', April, and Courtney. Additionally, Myra was the loving grandmother of her daughter, Rebecca's children, Shawn, Chad, Jeremy, and Eric. Myra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Courtney G. McKeever and her daughter, Rebecca G. McKeever.
Myra took great pride in her role as a grandmother, enjoying the company of her twenty-one wonderful and precious great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
A devoted sister, Myra held a special bond with her sister, Barbara Thompson of Silsbee, who stood by her side throughout the years, sharing countless memories and support in both joyous and challenging times.
A gathering of family and friends of Myra McKeever will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home,1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following this, a graveside service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas, at 11:30 am.
Myra McKeever will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, boundless love, and the indelible mark she made on the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, https://humanesocietyofsoutheasttexas.org/, for the many animals that need help.
