Perryman Glenn McFarland, known affectionately as "Mac," was born on June 21, 1930, in Hemphill, Texas. He departed this life on October 2, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and accomplishment.
Mac's professional journey included notable tenure with Pure Oil and Union Oil, culminating in his retirement from Unical where he served diligently as a purchasing agent. His industrious spirit and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his career.
An individual of profound character, Mac was proud to be a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Acres, contributing his time and effort to the community. One of his proudest accomplishments was celebrating 42 years of sobriety with the Mid-County AA group, a testament to his resilience and commitment to self-improvement.
Mac held a deep passion for fishing, which was a significant part of his life. As the President of the Port Arthur Bass Club for 22 years, he fostered camaraderie and friendship among fellow fishing enthusiasts. It was well known that he would stay at camp until his wife, Nola, came to fetch him "because the icebox wasn't full of fish yet," a delightful reflection of his commitment to both his passion and his loved ones.
His dedication extended beyond his professional life, for he served honorably in the Army, receiving accolades including the Army of Occupation medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, and the United Nations Service Medal.
Mac is survived by his cherished family, including his sons, Terry McFarland and his wife, Kathy of Bridge City, and Mike McFarland and his wife, Bali of Port Acres. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jana Neel of Port Arthur, his grandchildren: Michelle Cauley, Nikki Thibodeaux, Brent McFarland, Brandy Holt, Josh McFarland, Mellissa McFarland, and Tonya Vela, as well as twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nola McFarland, their son, Tim McFarland, his son-in-law, Gerald "Boo Boo" Neel, and eleven siblings, who have all contributed to the fabric of his remarkable life.
