Jack Clark Purl was born March 15th, 1947 in Austin, Texas to Thomas and Aleene Clark Purl.
Jack went to be with the Lord on July 5th, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday,
July 19th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Rose Heights Church in Lindale with Allen Townsend and Nick
Sholars officiating.
Jack was raised in Austin and moved to Georgetown,Texas where he graduated from high
school in 1965. He attended Blinn College where he met Patricia, who he married on August
16th, 1969. He played golf at Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a degree
in Kinesiology in 1970. Jack began his coaching and teaching career in Brenham, Texas with
subsequent stops in Lancaster, Katy, Alvin, and Lindale where he retired in 2009. In his career
he coached golf, football, baseball, basketball, track, and tennis. Jack and Patricia owned and
operated Brenham Sporting Goods and he also spent a few years working in the banking and
oil industries. On Tuesday and Thursday morning you could often find Jack on the golf course
with friends or family, on Sunday mornings he was at church, and in the evenings you might
find him out to dinner with Patricia and friends or at one of his grandchildren's sporting events.
Jack loved generously and leaves a legacy of that love for his family, friends, and community.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Purl. He is survived by his wife
of 55 years Patricia, his son Steve and wife Stacy of Frisco, Texas, son Todd and wife Molly of
Santo, Texas, and daughter Beth of Hideaway, Texas. He also leaves behind four
grandchildren, Hannah (21) and fiancé Will Price, Nate (15), Will (13), and Wade (10).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NextGen Ministries of Rose Heights Church or
KVNE in memory of Jack. Your support will honor his legacy and continue the meaningful work
of these ministries.
