Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation CenterJack Lyman Rice, 90, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Northwest Health La Porte.
Jack was born on October 13, 1934, in Bureau, IL, to Millard A. and Marie E. (Johnston) Rice.
On June 23, 1956, in Joliet, IL, he married Marjorie "Marge" Vance, who preceded him in death. Surviving Jack are his 3 daughters, Karen (Gregg) Block of WA, Julie (David Zurek) Rice Zurek of IN, and Linda (Jeff) West of AZ; 5 grandchildren, Lindsey (Kalani) Snyder of WA, Jeff (Thea) Block of OR, Josh Ragusa of CA, Ryan (Elizabeth) Zurek of IN, and Kevin (Kimberly) Zurek of IN; 10 great-grandchildren, Rosemary, Damien, and Emery Snyder, Linus, Henrietta, and Mabel Block, Daniel and Matthew Zurek, and Carly and Zachary Zurek; brother, Kenneth Rice of IL; as well as numerous nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Bill Rice.
Jack was a chemist with an industrial cleaning company. He enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. In his younger years, Jack helped family members as a handyman. He built an addition to his home, and was still doing electrical work at age 80. Above all, Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren and FaceTiming his family.
A brief Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, IL, for immediate family.
