Jack Shaffer, 106, Gas City, passed away at 4:50 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Bethel Pointe Health & Rehabilitation in Muncie. He was born on Wednesday, May 28, 1919, to Nile and Alta (Kiser) Shaffer. On July 23, 1938, he married Betty Louise Heath.

Jack graduated from Gas City High School in 1937 and was the MVP for the 1937 Gas City Tigers Basketball. Jack served in the Army 1943-1946. He was a member of the Gas City Masonic Lodge 645 and VFW 6728. He attended Grace Community Church. In his early years he worked at Walnut Creek Dairy then Sutter Dairy before joining the sales team at Twin City Chevrolet where he worked until retirement. Jack golfed twice a week for many years and loved to bowl. He was an avid gardener who especially enjoyed growing strawberries, tomatoes, roses, and flowers.

Survivors include his sons, Jerry (Betty) Shaffer of Stone Lake, WI, and Roger (Judy) Shaffer of Selma, IN; grandchildren, Keith, Leah, Terry, Dina; great-grandchildren Adam, Chloe, Hunter, Savannah, Tyler, Sarah, and Janel.

He was preceded in death by father, Nile Shaffer; Mother, Alta Shaffer; brothers, James and Joseph Shaffer; wife, Betty Louise Shaffer; grandson, Neal M. Smith; and great-grandson, Ryan Herring.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.

After visitation, a service to celebrate Jack's life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery.
