Jack Harold Trompeter, 88, of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Hospice House in Slidell, Louisiana.
Born October 23, 1936, in Peoria to Emil and Corrine McLaughlin Trompeter, he married Helen A. Kovachevich on September 10, 1960, in Peoria. She passed away November 7, 2010, in Peoria. Jack was also preceded in death by two brothers, Emil "Bud", and Earl Trompeter; and two sisters, Lillian Forquer and Martha Ayres.
Surviving is one daughter, Monica (John) Jordan of Diamondhead, MS; one son, Jason (Sharon) Trompeter of Cedarburg, WI; four grandchildren, Ian (Cristale) Jordan of Guantanamo Bay, Alex Jordan of Metamora, Hailey Trompeter and Miles Trompeter, both of Cederburg, WI; and one great grandchild, Logan Jordan of Guantanamo Bay.
Jack worked as a castor for Keystone Steel and Wire for 41 years. He was a proud Air Force Veteran serving from 1954-1958. An avid golfer, fisherman and card player, he dearly loved his Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame College football. Jack was a longtime member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, and was active in its Men's Club, 7:30 daily rosary group, and the weekly adoration adorners.
He was also a member of the Chicago Cub Boosters of Chicago, Bartonville American Legion Post 979, and a fifty-year member of the Peoria Elks Lodge #20.
A memorial mass will be at St. Philomena on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11 AM, with Fr. Daniel Dionesotes officiating. A visitation will be on Thursday, February 6, from 4-7 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, and half an hour prior to the mass on Friday. Entombment of the cremains will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to The St. Philomena Scholarship Fund or The Hospice House of Slidell, LA.
