JACKIE CARVER

Obituary

SEPTEMBER 19, 1947 TO OCTOBER 2, 2025

Jackie Carver of the Broadview Community in Winchester, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jackie was born to Jack and Doris Carver and spent most of his youth in Manchester, TN. He was baptized into the Church of Christ as a teenager. He spent his youth fishing, floating the creek near his house, camping out, and playing baseball and football with the many guys with whom he grew up. Jackie played football and baseball at Coffee County High School, where he graduated in 1965. He received a baseball scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University where he played for the Blue Raiders from 1965-1969. MTSU baseball team won it's 1st NCAA Championship in 1968. He was selected MTSU's MVP in 1969.

After graduation, Jackie spent the next 52 years teaching, coaching, and mentoring students in Coffee, Lincoln, and Franklin County Schools. The last 36 years were spent at West Middle School in Tullahoma where he truly enjoyed teaching physical education and science as well as coaching basketball and track. His impact on students will be remembered for his kindness and for his "jokes of the day' and all the practical jokes and shenanigans with his fellow students and teachers and staff. The West Middle "Sharks" Swim team will be remembered as one of the hallmark capers instigated at West, with many unnamed accomplices involved.

Jackie always had a cheerful outlook on life and never knew a stranger. His love and good nature enveloped his two sons, Jon and Craig, and Susan, his wife of 49 years. Fatherhood came naturally to Jackie. He and his sons rough-housed, fished, hunted, and worked side by side to build things together and to destroy things together, hence, a full drawer of first aid supplies. Baseball, football, and soccer moves were practiced while temporarily pausing family meals.

Jackie was a faithful friend and always listened and loved without judgment. His life's journey was filled with love, laughter, and endless stories. I hope his fishing buddies at the Bass Club will remember his jokes and friendship. Our world is much more empty without Jackie, but his memory fills our hearts. We pray that we will meet him again with his savior, Jesus Christ.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carver; his mother, Doris Carver; and his grandparents, Zenith and Ova Carver. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Jon Carver and his wife, Mandy Carver, his son, Craig Carver, and his sister, Cheryl Wiley and her husband, Don Wiley. He also leaves behind so many loved family members and friends too numerous to mention.

Visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Moore Cortner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
