Jackie Kenneth "Jack" Fowler

Jackie "Jack" Kenneth Fowler, 82, died September 5, 2025. A native of Suffolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late George Emmett Fowler and Myrtle Jones Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Hollowell Fowler of (Suffolk) Pinehurst; two daughters, Nita (Jon) Halloran, Andrea (Patrick) Morris; two stepdaughters, Linda (Larry) Lewis, Donna (Eric) Powell; six grandchildren, Josh Lewis, Allison Powell, David Powell, Ava Morris, Jack Halloran, and Asher Morris.
Mr. Fowler grew up on a family farm and went on to be a proud graduate of Virginia Tech and a Squadron Commander in the Corp of Cadets. Most of his adult life was spent in Suffolk where he was a well loved member of the community. He served in Suffolk Public Schools as an Agriculture Teacher and Assistant Principal. True to his automotive loving roots, Mr. Fowler later began his career in the automotive industry and spent decades as the owner and operator of J-AN-J Auto Sales.
Mr. Fowler recently moved to Pinehurst, North Carolina, where he spent his last few years connecting to his new community and even leading bible studies in his home with friends and family.
Family, faith, and church community were a vital part of his life and he served in many capacities. He worked and served until his battle with sickness no longer allowed him to. He spent many years in a body that declined. The perseverance shown by Mr. Fowler was an inspiration to all who knew him, a testament to a faith that was tested and made strong, just as described in the Book of James, his favorite book of the Bible.
A memorial service will be conducted in Somerton Methodist Church, 8610 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23438 at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025 with a graveside prayer immediately following in the church cemetery.
