Jackie Dwayne Manning, a man whose life was defined by Integrity, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family, passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 7, 1938, Jackie lived a life full of joy, generosity, and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Jackie was a man who never met a stranger, always greeting the world with a warm smile. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Judy of 61 yrs, and a proud father to his three sons: Guy (Chandra); Tod (Tonya); and Jay (Tifany). His love extended to his grandchildren-Tyler; Kaylee (Zach); Jayci (Jefferson); Rachel (Preston); Brittany; Brandon (Savannah), and Kylee-as well as his 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he lovingly called "Sugar Foot." His faithful dog, Yankee, remained by his side, a constant companion in his later years.
Jackie loved his Lord and was a man of great Faith. He faithfully prayed for his family and friends every day. He found comfort in praise and worship music, and his faith was the cornerstone of his character. He enjoyed his position in the church as a Greeter and had a kind word and smile for everyone who entered the church doors every Sunday morning.
He was very proud of his time spent in the U.S. Army. He enlisted in Jan 1959. His first enlistment discharge was Dec 1964, then he re-enlisted for one more year. Discharged in Dec 1965 as Staff Sgt E-6.
A man of many passions, Jackie found great joy in the outdoors, whether hunting pheasant and quail or fishing at Lake Texoma. His competitive spirit shined through in his years as a dedicated coach of soccer, football, and baseball, shaping young athletes both on and off the field. He took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard, a reflection of his attention to detail and hardworking nature.
For 38 years, Jackie worked as a Senior Electronic Specialist at Lucent Technology, a role he carried out with the same integrity and dedication that defined every aspect of his life. A man of humor and tradition, Jackie especially enjoyed pranking trick-or-treaters and neighbors on Halloween, a lighthearted tradition that brought laughter to many.
Jackie had a natural sense of style, always dressed in the finest clothing from Rothchild's, even serving as a model for their fashions. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, he shared his talent at numerous school events, singing in the choir and as part of the Senior Octet at Harding High School. He was honored to perform a solo at the school's first Senior Awards Assembly and won the prestigious Annual Red Cross Talent Show with his moving rendition of "Old Man River," standing out among 100 contestants. After graduation, he was invited back to sing for an Awards and Honor Society Program. Jackie went on to serve his community as a dedicated police officer with the Moore Police Force, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Lynn Marvel, who was Moore's Chief of Police. His deep respect for law enforcement remained with him throughout his life.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Leota and Walter Manning; his siblings, Billy, Dolores, and Rolla Gene.
A celebration of Jackie's life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor a man whose kindness, faith, and unwavering integrity touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Though he is no longer with us, Jackie's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the countless lives he touched. His was a life well-lived, and he will be dearly missed.
