Jacob Michael Burket, 19, of Woodburn, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Jacob was born in Fort Wayne on September 6, 2005.
Jacob was a hardworking and kind soul who found joy in anything with an engine and never minded getting his hands dirty. A true gearhead at heart, he was always ready to help anyone—friend or stranger—in need of auto repair, though he’d jokingly draw the line at helping his mom can green beans. He also had a love for bowling, proudly representing Woodlan High School at the state championship and receiving the Rich Sarrazin Humanitarian Award from the Fort Wayne Conference Bowling League for his outstanding service to others. Jacob attended Countryside Church in Grabill and had a deep love for his dogs—Charlie, Copper, and Sofie. He often lived by the phrase, “it is what it is,” taking life in stride with a calm and steady spirit. His generosity, strength, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, Eric & Mary Burket; grandparents, Kirby & Susan Gillingham & Barbara Graber; Uncles & Aunts, Greg (Lisa) Burket, John Graber, Chris (Tammi) Gillingham, Carol (Scott) Lane, Jynette (Joe) O'Dell, Barbie Thomson, Kevin (Ondreya) Gillingham, & Marcia (Shawn) Craft; biological siblings, Patrick Thomson & Ashlee Thomson; & many cousins that were like siblings to him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jay Dee & Karen Burket; Uncle, Josef Burket; & Cousin, Aliyanah Gillingham.
