It is with sadness the family of Jacqueline Emch announces her passing on February 11, at age 80, from cancer. Born October 31, 1942, to the late Edward Jasko and Elsie Schunn Jasko, Jackie grew up in Ohio and graduated from Magnificat High School in the Cleveland area in 1960. A graduate of Capital University, she was a licensed social worker for various organizations, including many years as a supervisor for the Franklin County Office on Aging - Senior Options. Jackie actively supported many causes important to her, including poverty alleviation, women's equality and reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, union rights, voting rights, and human rights for all people. A spiritual person, she cared deeply for others.
Jackie was predeceased in 2019 by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Emch, and is survived by her children, Ingrid (James Hunley), Michael "Dutch" (Sheryl), and Gerry Cannon (Lori Young); grandchildren Sadie and Noah Emch, Grace and Ian Hunley, and Casey Cannon; sister-in-law Jackie Felix; nieces Susi Bivens and Heidi Brown, and nephew Matt Felix; and many other relatives and special friends. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.
Jackie encouraged her friends, family, and clients to have living wills and advance directives to plan for dignity in death. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to support Ohio End of Life Options https://ohiooptions.org/, an organization dedicated to awareness and advocacy for laws that provide medical aid in dying for the terminally ill in Ohio. To learn more about end-of-life choices, and as another option for donating on behalf of Jackie, connect to www.endoflifechoicesny.org.
A tribute in honor of Jackie will be planned in the future.
