Jacqueline Dolores (L'Ecuyer) Hill, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on August 22, 2025, at 92 years old. Born on February 17, 1933, in
St. Albans, Vermont, Jackie was the daughter of Aime and Anita (Duquette) L'Ecuyer. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy in 1952 and, just a few years later, married the love of her life, David Hill, on April 28, 1956, at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Jackie had a gift for bringing joy wherever she went. Her warm smile and infectious giggle could light up any room. Whether working as a papergirl for the St. Albans Messenger or serving her community through roles at Fishmans, Pelkey's Pharmacy, Sears, and Knight's Pharmacy, Jackie's kindness and cheerful spirit left a lasting impression.
As a State Champion Comet basketball player, Jackie carried great pride in her half-court game and the legacy she helped build. She found immense joy in cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many sports, always their most loyal supporter and offering gentle referee coaching from the sidelines.
In her later years, Jackie generously shared her time and talents with her community. She volunteered at the VFW Post 758 where she was a proud life member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She dedicated many hours with the Franklin County Senior Center, where she served as a board member. Jackie was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of Holy Angels Parish. She lovingly crafted countless knitted hats and mittens for children and patients at St. Albans City and Town Schools, Fairfield Center School, Northwestern Medical Center, and the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center.
Jackie's family will forever hold close the sweet memories of the things she loved most. She found so much joy in creating - whether she was knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, painting, or tending to her garden with care. Some of her happiest moments were spent crafting side by side with her grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and love through each project. Jackie had a playful spirit and a heart full of joy - she delighted in ice cream sundaes, lively board and card games, and making silly faces that never failed to bring a smile. She also cherished her casino adventures, especially those shared with her dear friend Lucy, filling their days with laughter, luck, and lifelong friendship.
Jackie was blessed to be tenderly cared for by Cathy Jean, Dave, Marie Bordeau, many dear friends including Martha and Peggy, and the compassionate team at Bayada. The family is deeply grateful for the love and support shown, which words alone cannot fully express.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter Cathy (David) Montagne; granddaughters Desiree (Gene) Branon, Stephanie Gauvin, and Megan (Brian) Walker; and great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Kaleb, Isaac, Riley, Alexander, David, Grace, and Bonnie. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Richard L'Ecuyer; sisters-in-law Nancy L'Ecuyer and Liz Hill; brothers-in-law Paul Chabot and Tom Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie is now reunited in eternal peace with her cherished husband David; her parents Aime and Anita; her siblings Carmen Chabot, Paul L'Ecuyer, and Roland L'Ecuyer; in-laws Robert and Claire (Coburn) Hill; sisters-in-law Helen L'Ecuyer, Elke L'Ecuyer, Juanita Viens, and Virginia Hall; brothers-in-law Richard Viens and Rodney Hill; and her dear aunt Sister Jacqueline.
At Jackie's request, there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved David in the Hill Family lot at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jackie's memory may consider a donation to the Bellows Free Academy St. Albans Athletic Department (71 South Main St.,
St. Albans, VT 05478) or Bayada Hospice (463 Mountain View Dr Suite 100, Colchester, VT 05446).
