Jacqueline Jackson , 89, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Jacqueline Jackson was a woman of quiet strength, gentle wisdom, and enduring love. Born on April 18, 1936, in New York City during the Great Depression, she was raised in Harlem by her devoted mother. Though her upbringing was modest, it was rich in faith, perseverance, and deep familial love. From an early age, Jacqueline learned how to endure hardship with grace and how to find joy in life’s simple blessings.

Some of her most treasured memories were made in the kitchen of her mother’s Harlem restaurant, The Honeydripper, where she found purpose and joy in helping prepare and serve food. Her passion for cooking was more than a skill—it was an expression of her heart. That kitchen became a sacred space of connection, service, and love. Jacqueline often spoke of those days with fondness, always honoring her mother, who she described as her best friend.

After graduating from Washington Irving High School, Jacqueline attended secretary school and gained the professional skills that opened the door to many career opportunities. She began with temporary office jobs before earning long-term positions with several companies. In her thirties, she worked at Banker’s Trust, where her excellence and professionalism stood out. She was even invited to speak at a college about her role and had the exciting opportunity to model for the company and appear in a commercial—one of the proudest moments of her life.

Jacqueline’s most enduring professional chapter was with Music Trades Magazine, where she faithfully served for nearly 30 years. Starting as a secretary and rising to become assistant to the editor, she left a lasting impact through her loyalty, attention to detail, and warm spirit. Her colleagues respected her immensely, and many considered her the heart of the office.

Above all, Jacqueline was devoted to her family. She was a loving and proud mother to her son, Cory Paul Malachi Jackson, and a treasured mother-in-law to Dana Yvonne Jackson. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren—Christina Steele, Corrin Jackson, and Destiny Jackson—and to her great-granddaughter, Cora Pannell, whose presence brought her great comfort and joy in her later years.

Jacqueline’s life was anchored in her faith. She was deeply rooted in her church community, where she was known for her sincere encouragement, wisdom, and servant’s heart. She especially had a heart for young people and often mentored those seeking guidance. Her worship was vibrant—she loved to dance before the Lord, and her joyful praise inspired many, filling the sanctuary with the presence of God.

Her life was a beautiful testimony of endurance, compassion, faithfulness, and unwavering love. Jacqueline Jackson poured herself out in service to others and lived each day with intention and grace. Though her earthly journey has come to a close, her legacy lives on—in the hearts of her family, her community, and all who were touched by her life.

A memorial service will be held at The Church 24/7 International on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 7pm and light refreshments will be served after.
