Jacqueline Maxwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Mar. 2, 2026.
Jacqueline Omlor (Bullock) Maxwell, 76, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, surrounded by family.

She was born on August 31, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John "Jack" and Dorothy Bullock (née Bliss). She spent most of her youth in northern Indiana, graduating from high school in Elkhart, Indiana.

As a young woman, Jacque faithfully served a mission in Ireland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - an experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to serving others. She earned her bachelor's degree from Purdue University, followed by a master's degree from Brigham Young University and an additional master's degree from the University of Central Missouri.

In 1977, she married Jack William Maxwell. They lived in Indiana, Illinois, and Utah before moving their family to Missouri where she lived the remainder of her life.

Jacque devoted her professional life to teaching mathematics. She taught for over 25 years at Wentworth Military Academy and more than 30 years at Metropolitan Community College. She was a gifted educator who believed deeply in her students' potential and helped countless numbers of students gain a love (or at least an appreciation) for math.

Jacque had a competitive nature, which helped her to be a talented coach for academic math and quiz bowl teams as well as girls' volleyball teams. This also made backyard football games with her children and their friends more fun. Her faith defined her life.

She faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially cherished the many years she spent serving at Girls Camp, where she mentored and uplifted young women, leaving an imprint that will last for generations.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. In addition to her parents, Jacque was preceded in death by siblings Jeannie VanBree, Tom Clarke, Janet Rogers, and Judy Logan. She is survived by her husband, J. William Maxwell of Martinsville, IL, siblings John (Debra) Bullock of Chicago, IL, and Sherri Bullock, her children, Michael (Toni) Maxwell of Wilmington, DE, Kevin (Nichole) Maxwell of Boonville, MO, and Heather Maxwell of Kansas City, MO; and by 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of strength, faith, and perseverance.

Jacque's life was one of quiet impact and steady devotion. She leaves behind a legacy of education, service, and love that will continue to shape the lives of those who knew her.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Odessa, with visitation beginning at 5:30 P.M., with services to follow at 6:00 P.M. Inurnment will be at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Please remember to share your memories of Jacqueline with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
