Jacqueline "Jackie" Phillippo, 90, formerly of Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood, Downers Grove, and Sandwich, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville. Born September 9, 1935, in Chicago, Jackie lived a life rooted in faith, service, and compassion.
Beloved wife of the late Kenneth A. "Ken" Phillippo, whom she married on May 25, 1957. Loving mother of Christina (Jeff) Anderson, Kenneth (Keli) Phillippo, and Dr. Cyndi (Mark) Bergs. Adored grandmother of Bianca (Josh), Dominic, Alicia, Lauren (Peter), Angela, Elizabeth, Nykki, Becky (Tim), Ashley (Roosevelt), Danielle (Kyle), Cierra (Ross), Tyler, Kenneth III "Trey," and Brayden, cherished great-grandmother to Nicholas, Amelia, Charlotte and Jackson; Ellis; Ethan and Madison; Landyn, Xavier, Robert and Julius; Vinnie; Tatum and Rhett; devoted daughter of the late Michael and Lorraine (Mrozinski) Roma, daughter-in-law of the late Frank and Darlene Phillippo, dear sister of the late Joan (the late Robert) Gallowitch, sister-in-law of the late William (the late Nancy) Phillippo, fond aunt of Robert (Bobby) and Michele Gallowitch; Linda (Rick) Morin and Laura Phillippo.
She is also lovingly remembered by extended family and dear friends-some of whom she treasured for more than fifty years.
A lifelong caregiver, Jackie began her nursing career at the University of Chicago's Billings Hospital and continued to serve with skill, tenderness, and empathy throughout her life. She embodied the vocation of healing, caring deeply for her patients, her family, and anyone in need.
A devout Catholic, Jackie was a prayer warrior and champion for life, devoted to the Blessed Mother and her favorite saint,
St. Jude’s. She was a founder of the Our Lady of Peace Food Pantry in Darien, where she dedicated countless hours serving others. Jackie lived her faith daily-as a Eucharistic Minister, mentor, and friend-bringing comfort, encouragement, and joy wherever she went.
Jackie's kindness was matched only by her zest for life. She delighted in summer sunshine, travel, cooking for her loved ones, and sharing sweet treats around the table. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
